Hello everyone,
We are being exposed directly into the fitness world during our placements. This helps us to overcome fear and answer the questions that will be rising on like what we are being expected to do in this field after becoming a fitness instructor.
In this blog, I would like to discuss about my fear and how I am learning to deal with it during my internship. When I was in the first semester of this course, I was scared of even sitting on a stability ball because of balance issues. I managed to be comfortable with the ball by the end of the semester but still didn't have the confidence to perform exercises using them.
In my placement at the recreation center, I had the option of choosing a fitness program involving stability ball. I really wanted to make use of this opportunity to succeed dealing with my fear. During my first "on the ball" class, it was hard to control my balance and I didn't even try to do some exercises because of my fear but as the session progressed I was able to manage myself. It improved my confidence level and now I am very excited to learn exercises like wall squat, push ups, abdominal crunch, back extension, shoulder press, gluteal bridge and stretches using stability ball.
From this experience, I realized that, the more we are being exposed to our fear, the more we will be able to defeat them. I want to continue challenging myself and learn how to maintain proper alignment of the body while exercising with stability ball since they serve as a great tool in achieving core strength, endurance, balance and coordination.
Hope you find my blog helpful and let me know about your fear during internship and how you plan to overcome them in comments.

Hello Shobhitha,
ReplyDeleteFirstly i would like to appreciate you for taking this challenge of over coming your fear.Overcoming fear is a great challenge and i am really proud of you that your putting your full efforts in overcoming it. I would also like to share one of my fears. During my semester in the fitness classes i was good at exercising but when i was suppose to design a class I was worried since i was not good at cueing and following the beats. I still feel that exercising with beats in really hard. As i started my industrial placement one of my main goal was to learn to follow beats and cueing the exercise. I started overcoming my fear with the help of well experienced trainers and practice made me to improve my skill.I hope industry experience will help everyone over come their fear.

Hello Shobhitha, your blog is very interesting. Its so good to read your story about overcoming fear. I appreciate that you chose to write your story so that this can be an encouragement for all those who are still wrestling with their fears. I agree that being anxious and stressed won’t help anyone to achieve anything in life. All is needed to be done is fighting with it and defeating it with hard work. Accepting new challenges and doing the best in them is highly required. I too have experienced that when we face our fears boldly we get confident about doing things for the first time.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!!!
