Hello everyone,
Pumped up is a strength training program using the barbell and free weights with pre-choreographed routines targeting the major muscle groups of the body to optimize muscular strength and endurance. In this blog, I would like to share my experience of participating in this program.
The pieces of equipment required for the pumped-up workout session are a step, barbell, plates (10lbs, 5lbs, and 2.5lbs) and 2 clamps. The weights depend upon the fitness level of the participants. The exercises involved in these workouts are very intense and we will be able to achieve the feeling of the “the pump”. The objective of this workout is to allow a large quantity of lactic acid to accumulate in the muscles thereby leading to greater hypertrophy since the body experiences a huge boost in growth hormone levels from the accumulation of lactic acid in the muscles.
To get the maximum pump during the workout, we tend to dedicate our full attention to the muscle group being trained thereby this form of training session helps to gain the “mind-muscle connection”. This combination of physiological changes i.e., improved neuromuscular coordination and muscle hypertrophy results in muscle strength. The tempo of each repetition differs in this form of a session, some of the tempo included are:
- slow rep (2x2/4 beats)
- super slow (4x4/8 beats)
- quick reps or singles (1x1/2 beats)
- slow to quick (3x1/4 beats)
- quick to slow (1x3/4 beats)
- ½ rep (pulse)
Participating in a pumped up fitness class is providing a considerable knowledge about this form of workout and feel of the lactic acid burn at the end of each set is a great sense of feeling to gain. I found pumped up class very interesting and engaging by the variety of tempo options provided in this form. Looking forward to participating in this class regularly to improve my muscular strength. Hope you find this blog helpful and motivating to participate in pumped up fitness programs.

Hello Shobhitha,
ReplyDeletePumped up is one of my favorite work outs. And i totally agree that this intense work out makes us feel the burn of lactic acid which provides a great sense of feeling of gain. It is now making sense why our instructor always use to cue us Mind To Muscle. Pulsing at the end of the set was the fun part where we can have a good feel of lactic acid burning... I would also love to participate in this class regularly to build my muscular strength.
