PILOGA

Hello everyone,

In this blog, I would like to share my experience with one of my favorite classes, Piloga. Piloga is a mix of Pilates and Yoga and focuses both on mental and physical well-being. It helps to gain control of our body with awareness of every muscle movement and breathing. Piloga helps us to relax and regain fitness levels, and also to bring a balanced posture and improve flexibility.

At the recreation center, piloga is very popular and favorite among the senior citizens and clients who aim at a tight and tone body. This workout form helps to strengthen the muscles without increasing the size of the muscles. The session usually begins with standard Pilates exercises and then some yoga positions are included. Finally, the session returns to the Pilates movements to improves muscle coordination and aims at core strength.

Throughout the session, we pay more attention towards our breathing pattern and this controlled breathing helps us relax and release the accumulated tensions and gives a pleasant feeling of well-being and lightness. I learned that cueing plays a vital role in Piloga classes since the participants are advised to follow the instructor cues rather than following the instructor moves. Just following the cues helps the participants to focus more on their form and breathing.

Participating in Piloga classes helps to improve our mind muscle connection and to focus more on correct postures. It was a great experience for me to learn about some classic yoga positions in this class that helped me to improve my flexibility. Hope you find this blog useful and let me know about your favorite learning experience at placement in comments.

  1. Hi Shobhita Di, I read your blog and I find the Piloga exercise interesting. I am not really good in the flexibility exercise but I loved the fact that how mixing up two kind of class could be beneficial for more stability & strengthening of the body. Some people just want to stay fitness but not grow muscles. Well, I would say this is a good option for them. I am glad that yoga is getting more famous for its benefits and also I am proud that originated in India. On the other hand, you are right that cuing plays a very important role in getting results because sometimes people have bad posture and they keep doing the exercise thus resulting them hurting their selves and then suing the Centre for that. at the end, I am happy that you participated in piloga classes got more experience about it.

  2. Hello Shobita,

I like Pilates and yoga both, so I think that piloga would be also interesting. It is not only favourite among the senior citizens, but it is also becoming famous among the young ladies who wants to improve their posture and flexibility. Piloga would definitely help in improving this thing because it aims on focussing your breathing. It also makes you feel relax as it also focusses on mind-muscle coordination. As yoga and pilates is becoming interest for majority of population trying the mixture of both would be amazing. I would also like to attend the piloga to experience the combination of yoga and pilates along with that it can help in improving my core strength and flexibility.
I also agree with the fact that you need to focus on the cues rather than the moves because cuing helps in doing it with proper form and easily focus on the breathing which is very crucial in yoga and pilates and so in piloga.

  3. Hello Shobhitha, I read your blog very carefully as its title was eye-catching because I have never heard of piloga before. I was always confused which one to do for better mind to muscle coordination. Sometimes people can’t decide between Pilates and yoga. You can’t be in two places at once, but now you don’t have to. Piloga takes the best of both classes and mixes up a recipe for a leaner, stronger body along with a more focused mind. Stretch and tone your core muscles, butt, arms, chest, shoulders and back and leave feeling energized and centered. Overall, it was really nice reading all your posts and found them very unique and useful. I hope you have a great rest of the semester. Have fun!!
    Thanks
